The 2013 Summer Arts Camp at Fennville District Library ended on June 21 with a reception for the 39 campers’ families. Each child took home a book they wrote and illustrated. These young artists created amazing characters ranging from monsters to princesses and proved that ipads and television have not squelched imagination even a little bit! Immense thanks goes to Art Instructor Jackie Rowlison and Children’s Librarian Karmen Kooyers who worked in unison to create the imaginative and challenging book project that incorporated different mediums and techniques, including cross hatching, shading and blending of colors. Thanks also to AAAC member Linda Clark who worked each day as a volunteer assistant. This camp would not have been possible without the staff of the Fennville District Library who generously donated the use of space and materials and have invited the Arts Council to return next summer.
