Save The Earth was the theme for the Allegan Area Arts Council Art Camp this year! The campers talked about all the ways they could help our environment by recycling and keeping our earth safe and clean for people and animals! The twenty seven campers and two extraordinary older helpers used many recycled supplies and items given to the Arts Council with which they were able to create and design. They created “Dream Locations”, Medieval Castles, necklaces with crackled marbles, plastic sun catchers, “Tommy and Timothy” tilapia prints with corrugated cardboard frames, large gourd creations including bird houses and musical instruments, artistic walking sticks and a coat of arms…whew…it was a very busy and creative four days! The campers had an art exhibit on their last day and displayed their artist treasures for their families! It was a magnificent week for campers and teachers alike! Marsha Behm was coordinator with teachers Paula Chalupa, Deb Hilsbos, Judi McCall, Judi Miller-Morris, Cindy Thiele and Melissa Warner! We would like to thank everyone for a grand experience and thank the City of Allegan for the use of the perfect space to create at the Griswold! Join us next year!
