Thirty six energetic art campers ages 6-11 met each morning August 10-14 at the Griswald for the Allegan Area Arts Council Art Camp. Learning and art went hand in hand as the artists learned about deserts around the world. Would you like to be a king at age 9? King Tut masks were a big hit…and Queen Nefertiti was also in the house! Great roadrunner sculptures from the desert of the southwest were adorned with beautiful colored feathers. Canvases of animals of the outback in Australia were show pieces! There were also dot paintings, sand art, hieroglyphics tablets with a gold glaze and the southwest landscape in chalk! It was a busy artistic week culminated with an art extravaganza for family and friends! Next years AAAC Art Camp in Allegan will take place August 8-12! Join in the fun!
