Call for Artists:

The Allegan Area Arts Council is inviting applications from all artists and vendors to the 2012 Art in the Garden Artists Market on Saturday, April 21st, 10am-4pm.  This Market is being held at a new larger venue, The Silo, 1071 32nd Street (M-40 South) in Allegan.  Art in the Garden combines original garden-related and nature-inspired art with vendors offering plants, garden materials and equipment.  Download this form, AAAC AITG Entry Form 2012, if you are interested in applying as an artist.  Your artwork will be juried and you will be notified on or before April 1st if your application is accepted.  Interested vendors and entrepreneurs with nature-related businesses, download this form, AAAC AITG Vendor Form 2012 and return it to us before March 24th.  Questions and requests for more information can be directed to info@alleganarts.comLast year, this event attracted over 950 art enthusiasts and gardeners from SW Michigan and Illinois.   This well-attended event is worth your effort!

The Downtown Bakery and Deli Art Expo announces the 2012 Art Expo featuring all visual art mediums exhibited at the Deli during the month of March.  All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form (download ArtExpo Entry Form 2012) and received by Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Expo location — Downtown Deli & Bakery, 116 Locust Street, Allegan.   A $150 cash prize for Best of Show and a $75 prize for Best Student Entry (awarded to those 18 years of age and younger) and the People’s Choice Award, a non-cash prize, will be announced at this time.  All visual art mediums will be eligible for this exhibition, which will run from Thursday, March 1, thru Saturday, March 31, 2012.  All entries must remain in place for the duration of the exhibition.  Questions and additional information may be obtained from Ruth Smith at the Deli and at maverick-stardust@live.com

The Children’s Museum of Fennville is beginning a series of events highlighting area artists. Each artist will share an example of their work, some of the tools used to create their artwork and then offer a hands-on opportunity. All children’s art created at these events will be auctioned at the CMF at a later date.  We are in need of a few artists that would be willing to share their time and talent for one 2 hour presentation at the Children’s Museum of Fennville. Dates needed are March 10, April 14, May 12 & 26, June 9 & 23. The time is 10am – noon but we can be flexible on that. The Plein Air Artists of West Michigan invites all artists to join them on their ‘paint outs’ on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.  The PAAWM group teamed up with the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy to paint on their various sanctuaries over an 8 month period. A selection of paintings from those paint outs are chosen for the SWMLC inaugural calendar “Painted Sanctuary 2012.” Two art shows are held in the fall which feature all the paintings from the entire project. Currently there is no membership fee. We simply post our paint out schedule and if you can make it terrific, if you can’t no problem. Our paint outs start at 9am; we stop at 1:30pm or so to have lunch and hold a brief critique of the mornings paintings for those artists who wish too, some prefer to keep painting.
